- Pick the claim type (Cellphone, Marine, Motorcar, Property, Travel, Accident) to see its document list.
- For accident claims with bodily injury, prepare a police or accident report, medical certificate, and receipts of medicines or hospital bills.
- For death claims, add the death certificate and funeral or burial receipts.
- Claim refused: you can file it with the IC instead of a court when it is ₱5,000,000 or less per claim (the limit since the 2013 amendment of the Insurance Code), not counting interest, costs and lawyer's fees. Either side can appeal to the Court of Appeals within 30 days.Insurance Code sec. 439
- If Standard Insurance becomes insolvent: the IC's Security Fund pays allowed claims left unpaid, up to ₱20,000 per claim under the Insurance Code as amended in 2013.Insurance Code sec. 378
Complaints
- Write to Standard Insurance first. Put the policy or plan number, what happened and what you want in one letter or email, and keep proof of the date.
- Then go to the Insurance Commission. The IC takes requests for assistance on claims and complaints through its public assistance forms, by email to publicassistance@insurance.gov.ph or by phone on (02) 8523-8461 local 103 or 127.
- Report anyone selling without a licence to the IC Regulation, Enforcement and Prosecution Division, repd@insurance.gov.ph.

How tax applies to the policy

- Worked example: a fire insurance policy with a ₱10,000 premium. DST = ₱10,000 ÷ ₱4 = 2,500 units × ₱0.50 = ₱1,250 (Sec. 184).
Before you sign or pay
