For life, while used, or with a membership: the difference

No fee, no conditions means the bank's fee table prints zero or "free for life" for the principal card. Free while you use it means the bank waives the fee as long as you make a transaction each month (or within a set time after approval); miss it and a fee applies. No card fee, membership charged means the card itself is free but a Landers or S&R membership fee is billed to it every year.

Cards that waive only the first year are not on this list, because the fee comes back from year two. 79 cards open to the public work that way. 14 more waive the fee once you spend a set amount a year, for example the BDO Visa Platinum and BDO Platinum Mastercard.

Interest still applies

No annual fee does not mean no cost. If you leave part of the bill unpaid, interest runs at the card's monthly rate, and most cards here charge the legal maximum of 3% a month. Pay the full statement balance and you pay no interest at all.

Questions

Which credit cards have no annual fee for life in the Philippines?

With no conditions and open to anyone: PNB Ze-Lo Mastercard (PNB), China Bank Freedom Mastercard (China Bank), PSBank Credit Mastercard (Metrobank), Metrobank M Free Mastercard (Metrobank), Security Bank Wave Mastercard (Security Bank), EastWest Platinum Mastercard (EastWest), EastWest Priority Visa Infinite (EastWest), PNB Cart Mastercard (PNB), PNB-Alumni Association of Xavier School Platinum Mastercard (PNB), PNB-The Travel Club Platinum Mastercard (PNB), UnionBank U Platinum Mastercard (UnionBank), UnionBank U Visa Platinum (UnionBank).

Does BDO offer a credit card with no annual fee for life?

Not on its fee tables. BDO cards carry a fee; some BDO cards waive it for life on a yearly spend the bank sets, which the BDO credit cards page lists card by card.

Is a no annual fee credit card really free?

There is no yearly card fee, but interest, late fees and cash advance fees still apply, and some cards need a monthly transaction or charge a membership fee. Pay the full balance each month and meet the stated condition, and the card costs nothing to hold.

Can I deduct credit card fees and interest from my taxes?

Not against a salary: Section 34 of the Tax Code allows no deductions against compensation income. A self-employed person who elects the 40% optional standard deduction takes it in place of itemized expenses, so card charges do not reduce tax there either.

Scope: The other 6 on this list charge a membership fee to the card, need a deposit balance, or are limited to a group of clients; the table says which.
