Filing a claim with The New India Assurance

  • Claim refused: you can file it with the IC instead of a court when it is ₱5,000,000 or less per claim (the limit since the 2013 amendment of the Insurance Code), not counting interest, costs and lawyer's fees. Either side can appeal to the Court of Appeals within 30 days.Insurance Code sec. 439

  1. Write to The New India Assurance first. Put the policy or plan number, what happened and what you want in one letter or email, and keep proof of the date.
  2. Then go to the Insurance Commission. The IC takes requests for assistance on claims and complaints through its public assistance forms, by email to publicassistance@insurance.gov.ph or by phone on (02) 8523-8461 local 103 or 127.
  3. Report anyone selling without a licence to the IC Regulation, Enforcement and Prosecution Division, repd@insurance.gov.ph.
