What to do if your pawnshop or remittance office was delisted

  1. Find a listed office instead. Open your city from Locations; every pawnshop and remittance office there is on the BSP list as of 30 September 2025.
  2. If the company still has listed offices, the delisting was for that office only. Raise a problem with the company first, then file through the BSP Online Buddy (BOB) or email the CIR form to consumeraffairs@bsp.gov.ph.
  3. If the name is on no list, search it in the BSP Verifier. An institution missing from the Verifier is not automatically a scam: it could be new, renamed, closed or merged, or regulated by another regulator such as the SEC or the Insurance Commission.
Pawnshops
Pawn only at a pawnshop on the BSP list: the law requires registration before it makes its first loan (Presidential Decree No. 114, Sec. 6). Keep the signed pawn ticket. The pawnshop must give you one for every loan (Presidential Decree No. 114, Sec. 12). Missed the due date? You still have 90 days from maturity to redeem the item by paying the principal and interest (Presidential Decree No. 114, Sec. 13). You must be notified before an unredeemed item is sold, and it can only be sold at a public auction (Presidential Decree No. 114, Secs. 14 and 15).
Remittance companies and money changers
Send or claim money only at a BSP-registered remittance company or money changer. Each registered head office holds a BSP Certificate of Registration and a metal plate with its registration number (BSP Circular No. 1206, Series of 2024, Sec. 102-M). At a sub-agent counter, look for the posted sign naming the remittance company it represents (BSP Circular No. 1206, Series of 2024, Sec. 104-M).

It means the BSP has removed that office from its list of supervised pawnshops. For a remittance center or money changer, it means the office was removed from the list of registered money service businesses.

Search its name above. If it shows active offices, the company is on the current BSP pawnshop or money service business list. Then open your city under Locations to see the exact branches the BSP lists.

Can a delisted company still have other branches open?

Yes. Delisting is per office. 1,658 of the dated delistings belong to companies that still have offices on the current BSP lists.

Delisting dates are as published by the BSP. The June 2019 list gives a month, not a day. Active offices by city: all provinces.

Who licenses these offices

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) authorizes every bank office (Republic Act No. 8791), supervises pawnshops (Presidential Decree No. 114) and registers remittance companies and money changers (BSP Circular No. 1206, Series of 2024). The counts here are the offices on its lists.
