GCash fees and limits

GCash charges ₱10 per InstaPay transfer to a bank. Over-the-counter cash-in is free up to ₱8,000 a month, then 2% of the amount above that; cashing out at partner outlets and GCash Pera Outlets costs 2% of the amount. A Fully Verified account can hold ₱500,000. A month with 4 bank transfers and ₱10,000 cashed in over the counter costs ₱80.

Our take: once you pass ₱8,000 of over-the-counter cash-in in a month, cash in from a bank app instead; 31 institutions charge nothing for InstaPay (see which). Money you are not spending earns more in GSave: ₱10,000 there keeps ₱185.56 in a year after tax.

Next: pick the cheapest way to cash in and out, or if someone got into your account, report it now.

How the GCash fees and limits work in practice

  • Cash-in feeGCash's own example: cash in ₱7,000 over the counter on 1 May and it is free; cash in ₱1,100 on 5 May and the fee is ₱2, because ₱100 is over the ₱8,000 monthly limit (₱100 × 2%). The free limit resets on the 1st of each month. GCash
  • At a limitIf you reach a limit, you cannot use some services until the limit resets on the 1st of the next month or you upgrade your profile. GCash
  • Which profileA Basic (unverified) profile can receive only ₱5,000 a month and hold ₱10,000. If you receive more, verify your account; a Fully Verified profile can receive and hold ₱500,000. GCash

Earning interest on your GCash balance

The wallet itself pays no interest. GSave by CIMB pays 2.30% a year with no minimum deposit or maintaining balance, credited monthly after the 20% withholding tax. It was 2.60% until 1 June 2026. Moving money between GCash and GSave has no GCash fee. GCash

On ₱10,000 left for a year at the base 2.30%, you keep ₱185.56 after the 20% final tax. GSave is a deposit at CIMB Bank, so the PDIC insures it up to ₱1,000,000 per depositor, counted with your other accounts at CIMB Bank.

If your GCash account is hacked or you were scammed

Act in the app first

  • If you see transactions you did not make: change your MPIN, check other apps where GCash is linked, then report within 15 days of the transaction by chatting with Gigi ("I noticed unauthorized transactions in my GCash account"). GCash says the investigation takes 48 hours to 7 days. GCash
  • If you get an OTP or a phone-registration text you did not ask for, never share the code, change your MPIN and file a report with GCash. GCash
  • If you sent money to a scammer: in the app go to Transactions, pick the transaction, tap Get Help, then Report as scam; GCash support reviews it and contacts you within 24 hours. Report the scammer to the PNP or NBI too, and block them. GCash

If GCash does not resolve it

  • Report the problem to the bank or e-wallet first, through its customer service or complaints channel. Every BSP-supervised institution must have one as the first place to go. BSP
  • While it investigates a disputed or unauthorized transaction, the provider must suspend interest, fees and charges on it, or give a similar reasonable accommodation. RA 11765
  • If you are not satisfied with how the provider handled it, take it to the regulator, which is the BSP for banks and e-wallets. RA 11765
  • For a scam or fraud, also report to the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (acg@pnp.gov.ph), the NBI (ccd@nbi.gov.ph) or the CICC (hotline 1326, report@cicc.gov.ph). BSP

GCash and tax

Moving money through GCash does not create a tax by itself; whether money you receive is taxable depends on what it is for. Read is GCash income taxable.

If you sell online, E-marketplace operators and digital financial services providers such as GCash and Maya withhold 1% on one-half of the gross remittances they pay out to online sellers and merchants. Nothing is withheld while the seller's gross remittances for the past year, or so far this year, are ₱500,000 or less, or if the seller proves it is exempt or on a lower rate. This applies from January 11, 2024. BIR, RR 16-2023 · BIR, RMC 8-2024 Sellers: see tax for online sellers and GCash business accounts and the BIR.
